If you think your adult smile is immune to dental issues like tooth decay and gum disease, you could not be more off base. Dental issues don’t just occur in children’s smiles—they occur in adult smiles as well and it’s very important that you take care of your oral health each day. To help you do so, our Tao Sun, DDS team recommends doing the following things:

· Keep up on oral hygiene: Make sure you brush your teeth twice a day, floss your smile once a day, and rinse your mouth daily with mouthwash. As you brush, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. As you floss, use a product of your choice but be careful around the gums. As you rinse, use a beneficial mouthwash, like antibacterial or fluoride mouthwash.

· Have a balanced diet: Having a balanced diet will keep your pearly whites healthy and strong, so it’s best to consume the best products each day, like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats (like chicken, fish, and turkey), and low-fat dairy products.

· Visit your dentist: Visiting your dentist will help you completely prevent gum disease, so it’s best to come to our office for a dental cleaning and exam every six months. Each time you come in, your smile will be professionally cleaned and examined.
