Did you know oral hygiene needs can change at every age? Well, it’s true. It might not be by much, but they do. This is why it’s important to know all you need to know about oral hygiene so you can maintain a top-notch oral health and smile. To help you, our dentist, Dr. Tao Sun, is happy to give you the details you need to care for the smile at every age.

For babies, it’s best to clean their smile as soon as the first tooth erupts from the gums. As you do so, use a child-sized toothbrush and water and scrub their little teeth once or twice a day. Once they have two teeth touch each other, start flossing. You can introduce your child to the dentist six months after their first tooth erupts or around their first birthday.

For teenagers, it’s best to brush twice a day and floss once a day. If you have braces, it’s a bit different. You need to brush every morning, every night, and after each time you eat. It’s also important to floss regularly. If you can’t, make sure to floss at least once a day.

For adults, it’s best to brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time. As you do so, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. It’s important to floss once a day. For top-notch smile and breath results, rinse your mouth with mouthwash daily.
